The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - The Movie

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer and Annie Barrows was a favourite with us here at HT and many of our readers.

It was with great interest that we found out that it is going to be adapted to the movies. The book has a wonderful cosy feel and hopefully the movie will maintain that atmosphere. Anyone else looking forward to seeing it on the big screen?

Kate Winslet has been announced for the role of Juliet Ashton and I am really curious about who will be chosen to play Dawsey Adams. Any suggestions out there?

It seems that the producers already have someone in mind but schedule problems have led them to postpone filming. We promise to get back to this as soon as there's more news or a movie trailer to show!

  1. I really hope that this movie gets made, and that it gets made with Kate Winslet in the title role as she seems a perfect fit for me!

  2. I hope it gets made too although I was hoping for less mainstream actors, I would have loved to be surprised by a fresh new face. Having said that I guess Winslet could pull it off.

I've been reading about several names to play Dawsey - Colin Firth (love him but think he is too old now), Richard Armitage, Gerard Butler... I wouldn't mind being surprised there too.

  6. I haven't read this book yet, but I love when hit HF books are made into movies. I have always enjoyed Kate Winslet in her roles that have seen. Looking forward to this one being made.

  10. I'd like to see Tom Hardy play Dawsey. He could really do justice to the quiet strength of that character. The only question is whether he and Winslet would have the necessary chemistry.
