Announcing HT's 2012 Season

In 2012 one of our most successful features is back - the Season - a month long event dedicated to one author. In 2012 it will be Daphne du Maurier!

Are there any fans around? Anyone wants to participate? It is held in June so there's plenty of time for you to catch up on her books and join us in discussing her work. If you are interested in writing an article or a review about her historical books send us an email at historical.tapestry @ gmail.com. We would love to have everyone join us in this celebration of du Maurier's work.

We usually also have a couple of giveaways so if you're a publisher and are  interested in donating some copies feel free to contact us too.

  1. I've read 3 books by Daphe du Maurier so far. I loved "Rebecca" and "The House on the strand", but "Jamaica Inn" was quite a disappointment. Any recommendations?

  2. Hi Neriah, we're planning to focus mostly on her historical novels. Besides The House on The Strand and Jamaica Inn there's also The General's Daughter, Mary Anne, The Glassblowers,
The du Mauriers, Frenchman's Creek and Hungry Hill.

  3. I'd like to participate in this one. I've already read Rebecca, Jamaica Inn, My Cousin Rachel, The House on the Strand and Frenchman's Creek, but I have most of her other novels sitting on my shelf waiting to be read and this will be a great opportunity to read one or two of them.

  6. Ana - re your list: It's 'The King's General' not the 'The General's Daughter'.

Also of note from a historical perspective are her books about the Bacons - 'Golden Lads' and 'The Winding Stair' plus 'The Infernal World of Branwell Bronte'.

I will definitely have a stab at producing a review of one of these.

  8. Greetings all, I don't think there is a book I haven't read re Daphne du Maurier, and I can re read any of them at any time or so I thought until I noticed the above eg the Bacons, The Winding Stair, The infernal World of Branwell Bronte.. so thanks for that Ana. I'll love to publish a review, either Frenchman's Creek or The House on the Strand or both. Thank you

  11. This is really cool - I am announcing a readalong to Rebecca tomorrow morning at Book Journey - care if I link to what you are doing as well?

  12. Sure Sheila! Go right ahead. I'm a bit late to that or I would have loved to join in the readalong.

  13. I love, love, love du Maurier. Of her historical novels, I've read Jamaica Inn, The General's Daughter, Mary Anne, and Frenchman's Creek. I own copies of the rest of the novels that I've found at scattered rummage sales and antique stores. Frenchman's Creek is definitely my favorite of these novels, but The General's Daughter shocked me and kept me in its grip. I'm not going to be able to review any du Maurier books this month because of time constrants on my other reviews, but I will definitely check this out!
