Cover Story: The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley

You may have noticed that we are big fans of Susanna Kearsley here at Historical Tapestry. Her upcoming release, The Rose Garden, was selected as one of our most anticipated new releases of 2011, and so I couldn't go past the opportunity to do a cover story on the book as soon as I saw the US cover images.

So here is the UK cover

And here is the US cover

For all that it is a headless woman cover, I do really like the US cover, especially with the tag line "There's no safety among the thorns"

This book will be released in the UK on 11 May 2011, and in the US in fall by Sourcebooks.

If you are interested you can read the first two chapters of the book at Susanna Kearsley's website, however I am not sure that I would recommend this as it just made me more impatient for the day when I can actually read the whole book!

  1. You're right, I shouldn't have peeked at the chapters. While I await the release of the book I'll be checking out her others. I've never read her before, but that sneak preview has made me want to.

  3. I try hard to not judge books by the cover but am guilty sometimes. I much prefer the UK cover but I usually don't care for U.S. covers.

  4. jtwebster and Ms. Lucy, I did warn you that would happen! Can I recommmend that you run, don't walk, to the bookstore and buy The Winter Sea. It's my favourite book of hers!

I think we all judge books by their covers Teddy! I am normally a UK cover kind of girl, but this UK one seems a bit generic to me.

  6. hm, I actually don't mind either of them. Probably because up until now I had only seen the UK one and I know that is the cover I will be receiving... And, I refuse to read the two chapters because I don't need any temptation!

  8. I think they're both pretty, but I do think this time the US cover is a bit more distinctive. However, I'd take it with a brown paper bag cover!! I love her books and can't wait for this one!
