Although I was already a disciple...hooked on historical fiction by the works of James Michener, Leon Uris, and John Jakes, it was Diana Gabaldon and the Outlander series of books that compelled me to write in the genre, and in doing so found success. I owe Ms. Gabaldon a debt of gratitude. Her use of multi-layered, empathetic fictional characters as the conduit for the tale of the turbulent age, earns these books a permanent place upon my bookshelves, to be read again and again.
