Thursday Threads - Historical Fiction Surprises

Carrying on from the genealogical research that I have been doing of late and I spotted in the library The Ruling Caste by David Gilmour. I turned to the index to have a look for any references to the name of Bellasis, and instead found a mention of a family member, Lewin Betham Bowing, which was a great surprise.

So this week's question is -

Have you had any Historical Fiction Surprises?

  1. No, I noticed one other time on your blog you mentioning historical fiction. Maybe I should research that area. Thanks for the idea.

  2. I too keep my family tree in mind as I read and was interested in a recent post on your site, but who knows when I'll have time to pursue it. You had a summary of "Royal Mistress" by Anne Easter Smith which mentioned a Lambert and a Hastings. Thanks to some wills for my Hastings line and, of course, parish records, I have Lamberts and Hastings in my tree in the early-mid 1600s. It would be so cool to find out more about them, but I don't even know where to start! Maybe this summer I'll have time to pursue that. (I'm enjoying the HT Challenge!)
